DIYDG is a youth-led non-profit Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Corporation. Officially incorporated in October of 2016, DIYDG is a collective of amazing young people who are working towards building a vibrant and empowered community for themselves, their family and their peers. With limitless opportunities DIYDG is ready to take on any challenge that empowers young people!
Since 2013 a small collective of young people met weekly to connect with each other, to learn and grow together and to give back to their community. As a result, they found that they became more resilient; had a greater sense of self identity and felt as though they belonged.
In 2015 the group received a small grant of $5000, auspiced by a local organisation, to deliver community engagement activities as part of a healing collective support our community. The group developed 6 months worth of activities which included
After experiencing the challenges of managing funds, auspiced through another entity, the group decided to take charge and form the our corporation as it is known today.
