The Cairns NAIDOC Committee is empowered by Deadly Inspiring Youth Doing Good (DIYDG). The partnership began in 2022, DIYDG auspice funding and sponsorship on behalf of the Cairns NAIDOC Committee to deliver events. the committee is made up of volunteers who dedicate their time to planning, and delivering community events.
Cairns NAIDOC events are linked to the national theme and this year we are embracing FOR OUR ELDERS.
Across every generation, our Elders have played, and continue to play, an important role and hold a prominent place in our communities and families.

Cairns NAIDOC 2023 - FOR OUR ELDERS celebrations will be held from 1st to the 9th of July 2023. The CAIRNS NAIDOC Dinner will be held on Saturday 22nd of July 2023
We are privileged to have Cairns local, Mr. Kenny Bedford, of the Meuram clan of Erub in the Torres Strait Islands on the National NAIDOC Committee.
We are a group of volunteers and always seek assistance. If you are keen and motivated, wanting to network amongst mob, learn new skills and want to give back to community, come and join us.

The Cairns NAIDOC Committee has supported the annual combined church service, organised and hosted by Feiva International Ministries Cairns. This service is held each year with the participation of various churches and denominations located in Cairns.
The 2023 NAIDOC theme "FOR OUR ELDERS", will provide an opportunity for invited Indigenous Christian Elders to be part of this years' service.

This is a National Day of Support, our gathering in Cairns will link with other events across the nation.

Join members of the Interim Truth and Treaty Body for a community yarn about the Truth and Treaty process in Queensland.
This session will provide an update (and progress to) on the Path to Treaty Bill that was passed into legislation at Regional Parliament in Cairns on Wednesday 10th May 2023.
We will also be getting your views on setting up key structures and processes required for the setup of the Treaty Institue and Healing Inquiry.

Wuchopperen Health Service this year will be hosting their annual NAIDOC Community Day celebrating this years' theme "FOR OUR ELDERS"
The Wuchopperen NAIDOC Community Day will feature performances from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander dance groups, cultural educational games, information stalls from supporting community organisations, delicious free traditional food and various art and craft workshops for the whole family.

Cairns NAIDOC Friday in the Park will commence with the arrival of marchers and will be officially opened by traditional owners, Indigenous leaders, local politicians and community members.
Friday in the Park brings our people together, organisations and agencies with their stalls, Indigenous business enterprises selling their wares and arts and crafts. Food will also be available for purchase.
Check out the entertainment with singers, bands and dance groups displaying our cultural practices and history.

Collected from a central location in the city at 2pm and taken to a secret location near Cairns.
You will be welcomed by Traditional Owners to commence 3 separate events, including dinner.
The celebration will conclude at 11:30pm and you will then be transported back to Cairns.
